Training

Each Dare2tri coach holds coaching certifications from USA Triathlon and are passionate about promoting health and fitness.  In addition, the coaching team is specifically trained and is committed to creatively and appropriately adapting physical activity and training plans to meet the unique needs of Dare2tri athletes.

Dare2tri provides at least two free training plans for athletes that are developed around the Dare2tri race calendar. Beginner and Intermediate plans are available online to anyone who is interested in training for a triathlon.  The training plans coordinate with Dare2tri’s weekly practice schedule, camps and clinics, but are also flexible enough for an athlete to choose to complete his or her training independently.

A downloadable PDF document is also provided to help you understand how to read a workout, adapt the program to your individual needs and goals, complete the drills, and know the meanings of the various terms and abbreviations listed in the workouts.

  • The Beginner Training Plan is for athletes who are new to triathlon and/or are training approximately 6 – 10 hours each week.
  • The Intermediate Training Plan is for athletes with a little more time, conditioning, and/or experience who can train approximately 8 – 14 hours per week for Sprint of Olympic distance.

The training plans are designed to prepare athletes for specific races on the Dare2tri race schedule and also include Dare2tri summer camps and clinics. The plans are designed for both recreational and competitive athletes who want to get in shape and be a part of the Dare2tri community!

Downloading your training plan is simple and easy: click on the plan that you feel best suits your current fitness level, availability to train, and triathlon goals!  You will be re-directed to the TrainingPeaks website, and if you do not already have an account, you will be asked to create one free of charge.

After you create an account or sign in to your existing account, you can purchase the training plan for $100.  As a Dare2tri member (register here!), you can use the coupon code dare2tri100 to get the training plan for FREE!  Once purchased, the training plan will populate to your online training calendar. You can choose to either print the plan or have each workout emailed to you daily by selecting your preference in the “Settings” tab.

Recommended swim toys: These are the recommended swim tools to use during the drill based stroke correction of the workouts. These tools should come with you to each pool swim workout. Dare2tri members and volunteers receive a 30% discount when they use the code: dare2tri. We have some of these toys at practice for your to use but highly recommend you have your own set for swims outside of our practice.
