Weekly Practices

Dare2tri offers FREE practice opportunities to all athletes throughout the year on a weekly basis.

 

Indoor Racing Chair Roller practice

September 11 - December 18

Mondays starting at 7:15pm

Jesse White Community Center: 412 W. Chicago Ave, Chicago, IL

Join us for indoor racing chair practice, on rollers. We have a limited number of rollers and equipment, so if you plan to attend please email Dan Tun.

 

Indoor Gym & Swim Practice 

September 12 - December 19

Tuesdays, Gym/Fitness 6:00-7:00pm, Swim 7:00-8:00pm

Fosco Park: 1312 S Racine, Chicago, IL

During the Spring, Fall, and Winter, Dare2tri hosts a weekly, indoor gym & swim practice. The first hour consists of a circuit training session, which incorporates cardiovascular activity, weights, strength training, and flexibility.  For the second hour, athletes head to the pool, where there are opportunities for both new and experienced swimmers to get instruction on technique and be lead through a coached workout.

Ellis Park Pool: 3520 S. Cottage Grove Ave, Chicago, IL

In the pool, both new and experienced athletes have opportunities to get instruction on technique and be lead through a coached swim workout.

 

ambulatory run clinics (INDOORS)

 Once a month: Dates TBD

University of Illinois at Chicago - Student Recreation Center at the indoor track: 737 S. Halsted St. in Chicago

Limited spots available

These ambulatory run clinics will focus on running technique and mobility.  Coaches will lead participants through running drills and interval workouts during this 1.5 hour session.  

 

Dare2tri Outdoor Practice (NOT currently in session)

In the spring and summer months, Dare2tri hosts weekly outdoor practices with a focus on cycling and running/wheelchair pushing.  Dare2tri coaches and volunteers are on hand to instruct, assist with equipment fitting and adjustments, transfers and lead practices for athletes.  Sighted guides, tandem pilots, and other volunteers are also able to assist athletes and train with them as needed.  Dare2tri provides a variety of adaptive equipment on site for athletes to try and use during practice times. Outdoor Practice Volunteers, sign up here.

 

Open water swim practice (NOT CUrrently in session)

Join Dare2tri on Tuesday evenings at Ohio Street Beach for practice swimming in the open water!  Dare2tri staff and coaches are on hand to assist athletes with transfers, watch gear, and provide swim instruction to all who attend. Open Water Swim Volunteers, sign up here.

Hailey Danz, Dare2tri Ambassador and athlete who earned the 2016 Paralympic Silver Medal in paratriathlon will be leading these sessions. She believes that triathlon has the ability to change lives by giving individuals a sense of confidence and empowerment that carries over into all areas of their lives. Hailey is passionate about sharing her love for the sport with others, especially through running. Hailey is a USAT Level I Coach and a UESCA Certified Run Coach.

Participants need to be independent and able to ambulate (walk/run) upright on their own. This clinic is for individuals with a primary physical disability (i.e. amputee, cerebral pasly, stroke, etc.) or visual impairment. Volunteers will be available to assist participants. For our third seminar, we will discuss how to choose para-friendly races as well as financial resources (grants, foundations, etc.) to help you in the sport of paratriathlon.  Whether you are new to the sport, a seasoned athlete or a volunteer, we'd love for you to join us!
